Holly Moon
August 6, 2009
The Holly Moon signifies a time of transition for the earth. As the days begin to shorten and give way to autumn, we are reminded of the coming cold months and our connection to our neighborhood, family and friends. In England, the first grains harvested under the light of the Holly Moon were made into bread and shared by the community to represent the commitment of the members in the group to each other. The evergreen holly tree also symbolizes protection, and was believed to protect homes from lightning and evil spirits.
During the Holly Moon, we celebrate the work of the Antoní Gaudí, the famed architect and designer at the forefront of the Art Nouveau movement in Spain. His work in Barcelona led to the creation of some of the city’s most notable landmarks. Gaudí was a pioneer in his field, integrating organic angles and biomorphic shapes into his structural designs. The chocolate incarnation…fine Spanish saffron threads gently infused with fresh cream and intertwined with chocolate to form two luscious truffles: one dark chocolate and one white. Rolled in a rainbow of all natural sugar crystals, these truffles reflect Gaudí’s brilliant mosaic work crafted in the Catalan trencadís technique.
I have always been drawn to the cycles of the moon. Join our lunar journey through the Lunar Club Haut-Chocolat. Receive a different chocolate collection each month, just in time to enjoy by the light of the full moon. - Katrina
