Hawthorn Moon
June 26 , 2010
The Hawthorn Moon goes by many an alias. At times, it is referred to as the Strawberry Moon, named as such in honor of the short harvest period for strawberries during the month of June. In Europe it is the Rose Moon, signifying the roses’ brilliant burst of color, christening the arrival of summer.
The Hawthorn moon is a masculine one, representing fertility, purification, peace and prosperity. Historically, the blossom of the Hawthorn tree was thought to represent the scent of a female, possessing a strong sensual connotation. Yet the Hawthorn Moon also represents restraint. By showing restraint in our lives, we can truly appreciate the value of our actions. This is applicable in everything that you do this month—whether it be a long hike through the hills, a jaunt through the great wine producing appellations in France, a day at your desk in the office or a taste of the Bapchi’s Caramel Toffee. A classic Comfort Food to beckon the change in seasons. Savor the chocolate on your tongue and the way the briny salt combines with sweet chocolate to produce a meditative experience.
I have always been drawn to the cycles of the moon. Join our lunar journey through the Lunar Club Haut-Chocolat. Receive a different chocolate collection each month, just in time to enjoy by the light of the full moon. - Katrina
